The Scrap Metal Recycling Association of New Zealand (SMRANZ) is the country’s national scrap metal recycling industry association. Our members range from individual scrap collectors through to large processors and end-users of scrap metal. The majority of our members deal primarily or exclusively in metals.

Preferred supplier programme
access discounts and special offers from suppliers. Allied Petroleum is the inaugural member of the programme. They will bid for your business with competitive rates and, if you sign up, a monthly rebate on your sales is also paid to the Association to help fund our work and keep member subscriptions reasonable. Win-win! Additional suppliers are coming on board to this programme on a regular basis.

something good happen in your business? The media works very quickly these days; so get our office to help you with prompt media releases and getting good news out to your local community
your business needs to be represented to officials when issues arise. We regularly monitor activities at Central and Local Government levels to ensure our industry is represented. Since 2015, we've made submissions to the Auckland Council, Justice Select Committee, Local Government NZ, the Ministry for the Environment, Christchurch City Council, Rotorua Lakes Council, Tauranga City Council, WorkSafe NZ, the Waikato/Bay of Plenty Standard Solid Waste Bylaw Project and the Whangarei District Council.

Our Board considers all applications for membership. We will let you know if your application has been accepted and, if so, will invoice you for your membership fees. If not accepted, we’ll explain why.
If your company operates from multiple sites, we expect that all branches of the business will become registered for membership; nominate your main site for full membership and then all other sites for branch membership.
